Set out with Marlene, myself, Jimmy, and captain Jimmy J. on Sunday morning in search of early wahoo with plans to bottom fish in the afternoon. Nothing but barracuda while trolling until noon so we hit some new bottom spots we found and it paid off with 4 man limit of grouper and a stud cobia with some other bottom fish mixed in. After we hit our limit on grouper we trolled for more wahoo but no one was home. Awesome day and we were cleaning fish until well after dark. We all guessed the cobia was a solid 55lbs but didn’t have a scale big enough to weigh it (so let’s call it 80).
Icing on the cake was a flat calm ocean, zero amberjack, and a group of dolphin that came by the boat and gave us lots of fun on spinning gear.
Jimmy and Jimmy with a few grouper. If you can’t see the Jimmy on the left he is behind the scamp. He has a nice ocean horizon camo shirt on. (a lucky shirt)
Not sure how this happens.
I guess cobia can poo all over you like tarpon… Worth it to get the shot.
Unloading the catch
Fish box coming along nicely.
The snacks I forgot to bring. Sorry ![]()
