90 hp yamaha has a cold

the last few times i’ve been out my motor sneezes at idle and stalls out. it only seems to do it at the end of the day though.

it is a '02 yamaha 90hp 2-stroke.

I’m guessing some sort of carb issue… but don’t know enough to start screwing with it. ideas?

Normally when you get a sneezing sound from your engine its because your to lean. Rich up your carbs or better yet remove them, clean them and adjust. Takes a couple of hours and your motor will run like new.

sneeze definately mens lean run
please DO NOT adjust your carbs to richen them up
if you need to adjust them, you have an issue that needs to be fixed

okay… can i clean the carbs without taking them off? treatment or decarb or some kind of fogger?

or is this one of those things to let a pro handle?

Check with Chris V but sound like they are not that bad yet. Seafoam may clean them up. It worked on mine.

you can try seafoam
if its sneezing its in the idle circuit
tough to get that cleaned with sea foam

In my experience (I have a 90 Yamaha two stroke, as well) the sneezing and stalling are only going to be fixed by pulling the carbs and giving them a good clean. For me, that meant taking it into have a professional do it, as I am not brave enough to try it myself.

Over the years, before I switched to non-ethanol, I got that sneezing once every year or two. I tried SeaFoam many times and it never fixed it. Taking it in was the only thing that did.
