My 1989 Yam trim bumps / cracking noise when triming under a load running. There are no noticable leaks in trim cylinders or lines. I believe this is a closed system where as I cannot add fluid. Any suggestions?
there is a fill plug on the right side as you face the motor from the rear.
the newer ones have a groved cap. Your’s probably looks like a bolt head.
remove cap and fill a oiler can with outboard trim and tilt fluid, and fill to bottom of hole.
replace cap.
place grease on lower ram tips to help with squeaks etc.
I noticed the Phillups head screw on the side of the cylinder but do not recall the second outlet you mentioned. Heading to the coast this weekend and will take a look. Thx for the tip.
