The stream of water has gotten weaker and weaker, I hardly ever use this motor, but I tried to run it recently and it finally stopped peeing, (I ran 100lb mono to try and clear any debris, but it did no good). I decided to try and drop the foot out to replace the impeller, but after taking out the 6 screws the foot would only drop about an inch and it had some linkages attached to it, I didn’t really have time to look at it good, but I wasn’t aware that anything else had to be taken off to drop the foot… on my yamaha 90, the bolts were all it took… So my question is-- has anyone had this issue? I would take it to the shop, but like i say i never use it and if its something easy to fix, I’d rather give it a shot… thanks…
under the little plastic intake in the foot, it teh linkage attatchment.
there is a little plastic “cone”
dont break it or lose, it wont ever adjust right if you put it back to gether without it.
when you take it apart, you will see what I am talking about
Chris, Thanks for your response, I know you have your hands full on here… The linkage was on the front side of the foot, and it had several rods coming down to it, Like I said I didn’t have much time to mess with it, but are there visible bolts to undo it?
I told you wrong
I was thinking about the 25hp not the 15
on the 15 the shift shaft curves forward out of the foot toward the transom
there is a metal plate with a bolt that connects the 2 pieces of the shaft
it comes apart there.
this site (leeroy’s ramblings) has got some great info. helped me tremendously during a recent 9.9 overhaul.
