CF Playoff scramble

After the craziness of yesterday with colorado, bama, Ol miss, ATM all losing, is there a chance of the real USC sneaking in the back door after a win over Clemson??? One would think the quality wins and hot streak over the last 5 weeks would at least have us heavily in the conversation. I know it maybe a pipe dream, but man how cool would that be.

Not sure how the Playoff Committee balances “quality wins” vs. “quality losses”?

I guess we’ll find out soon, though.

Carolina is the team that no one wants to play right now

DatBoy should be worried

wow a crazy end to the regular season. i can’t wait to see if we sneak in the playoffs.

Good game hammer
Glad I came home early

Great Game!

23 seconds left in regulation, and it could’ve gone either way.

Congratulations Gamecocks!!

Never have I seen so many blown opportunities as I have in the last 4 Tiger games… when will they learn :pensive: oh well, still my boys! Guess ill have to pull for the Dawgs now lol

If Clemson played decent competition during the season they would learn how to handle pressure. Can’t do that playing weak teams in the All Children’s Conference along with the Citadel and App State advanced high school teams, and by playing just one quality team that blows them out by 31 points. The win/loss record is meaningless. Dat Boy can lie all he wants about how good they are, the truth always comes out.

Their schedule next year is even weaker. LSU and Carolina are the only potential quality opponents. They play Troy, Furman, and the ASheShe teams. They’ll have another good win-loss year, possibly 10-2, playing nothing teams. Apparently that’s what the fans want, wins over non-competitive teams.

Indiana, AZ State, possibly Boise, SMU and Clemson have lost or would most likely lose to the teams ranked 13-16. The NCAA and CFP will have to change if they want to have quality football games and some stability in the sport. Pick the best teams, consider strength of schedule, stop the automatic conference championship berths, go to 8 games, keep the NIL closed until after the bowls games are finished, limit team transfers to one, put a big financial penalty in place that occurs when a senior refuses to play in post season games, and put a cap on the NIL money that a player can get.

I pretty much agree with most of that, except the App State part.

They fired their coach a few days ago and picked up Loggains from the Coots to rebuild.

I see good things in their future

but yeah, the portal and the nil suck the bottom out of what most of us old farts thought of the sport.

but from a kids point of view, hard to argue with them for chasing millions.

What would you do for 5 million?

just some random thoughts… . . .

NIL is a problem. Put a cap on it per player. Also, don’t open the transfer portal until the bowl games are over and only allow one transfer unless except for special circumstances.

Some more random thoughts…

Clemson, and Carolina, both play the smaller schools every year. All of the Power-5 schools do too.

It’s a money making venture for the smaller schools athletic programs.

Most likely the most profitable opportunity, including the rest of their schedule, combined.

That being said, my daughter just informed me that Clemson’s tuition was just increased by $300.00/semester, to fund athletics, at the University!?!?

Clemson, legitimately, made the CFP by winning the ACC Championship.

If you don’t like the rules, set forth by the Committee, lobby to change them.

Quite honestly, as a die hard Clemson fan, I’d have happily traded Clemson’s CFP opportunity to see the Gamecocks make the playoffs.

They surely deserved a chance, in my opinion, but not according to the CFP Committee.

All I got for now…

You are a true fan of the sport.

Its kinda funny you picked those 2 schools to trash … How did the chickens do the last times they played app and citadel? Lol anyway, yea i get what youre sayin tho, if they played worth anything they lose, cept those few nattys and championship runs against Bama teams we were told could play in the nfl… lol no lie  I dont know how far in advance scheduling is done but I’m sure the crytal ball is the go to for that situation. But yea its cool, i like seeing the local teams play good, even if its just lightning in a bottle. Shoukd be a good time next year at willy b

Big picture I like to see every SC team win every week. When Clemson and USC play I hope for a fair game with no fights and no bad calls that have a material impact on the outcome. May the best team win.

At the national level I’d like to see the strongest teams in the payoffs. The win/loss record is part of the picture just as strength of schedule is.

Looks like the Gamecocks might be gettin’ top heavy at Qb’?

Rumor has it that Air Noland, formerly at OSU, and the, Cutter, kid, from Westside Highschool, are signed?

Thoughts??

I think LaNorris better sign his NIL deal with the Garnet Trust soon or all bets are off.

It just seems odd that Noland would come south to play behind anyone considering his last situation at tOSU.

I would like to know the thinking behind his decision to transfer to USC. Wonder if he’s betting on Sellars getting injured or leaving after next season.
