Hoping to come down and get some oysters this week. We usually get 1 five gallon bucket full of singles. I see where each license holder can get 2 bushels. Does anyone know how many 5 gallon buckets equal a bushel? Or, does anyone have a simple way to measure a bushel? Don’t want to be greedy but would like to bring some back for my brother and don’t want to get in trouble with the man.
Thanks

A bushel is equivalent to 4 pecks, or 8 gallons dry. The liquid volume is 9.31 gallons. If you are using 5 gal. buckets, I wouldn’t fill them to the top. Good luck and God bless!

I measure it at 2 buckets = 1 bushel.

Sure, with a bushel basket:smiley:

I always stick to three buckets per person. No more than nine buckets in the boat.
We went safe and got 2, 5 gallon buckets each. That is actually a good bit of oysters. My wife and oldest son are devouring them as I type.
