A Couple Hours on the Stono

I didn’t think I would make it out today; after watching the barometer and predicting it would crest/fall slightly in combination the warm sun I convinved my wife and son to give it a go. Fished from 12:30 to 2:30. Wind wasn’t all that bad. Bait was a little harder to get with the tide running 1-2 feet above normal. Got almost 2 dozen shrimp and some 3-4" spot. Got to the first spot and immediately noticed a float with a fish under it. It didn’t want to eat so I snagged it with a DOA and boated and 25" red and a Cajun Thunder rattle float. Tide started coming in without any bites so we moved about 100 yards and started getting bites around 1:45 just as the sky started to get some clouds. Total of 9 reds for the day averaging 22-24 inches with a couple tournament winners. They prefered the bait under a float, but the last fish came on a glow/pink DOA because we ran out of bait.

thanks for the report…I wish we had gone too when I got off work this morning …but 4 -12’s and the added hour last night I was a tired girl when I rolled out of work this morning…any size to the shrimp you caught?

Small to medium. We didn’t try very hard so I can’t say if there were any larger ones sitting in the deeper water.

we couldn’t find any shrimp on Sunday in the Stono in our normal spots. searched for them at low tide and didn’t see anything. So we used the minnow that we bought. Good for you on finding the bait and having some luck.
