A few questions/suggestions welcome

Late 80’s KW 1720 floor needs redoing.
What do ya’ll think about going back with aluminum?

Would this be too heavy?

Marine plywood better? If so what thickness.

Where to get foam resprayed?

Have to scrape up the money cause I really don’t want to get rid of it.

Ernest Hemingway was fond of accidentally shooting holes in his boat (and himself) while fishing and consuming “adult beverages”. If you fall into this category I would go with the aluminum. Seriously though, how about marine plywood and then have a spray on bedliner placed over it? I’ve heard the guy on the radio say he does boats a lot. West Marine has foam kits…kinda pricey, but gotta be cheaper than paying to have it done.

Was looking at aluminum because I have access to a bunch of it. Thought about using angle iron to form a grid and fasten it all together then get the spray in liner or paint on. Hanckle has the foam kit for $40 for 2 qts and said that is more than what I’d need.

Attach aluminum to steel and rinse with salt water and the aluminum will leave the scene. If you want to fix the boat well, hit the forum @ www.woodenboat.com. Yeah, they are a bunch of wooden boat fanatics, but they know how to put wood in boats and they know how to use fiberglass to make it stay.

you don’t have to go back with marine grade, lots of people use “forming grade”, I think they use it for concrete forms, not sure, but it usually has the edges painted red to identify it. It has a water proof glue, and is rated for exterior uses. It doesn’t have all the voids that you find on CDX, and usually has a BC finish. I’ve done several floors with it with good results. Check with local fiberglass shops, they aren’t building many boats, you might get a good deal on having it professionally done.

Palmer,I was talking bout aluminum angle. Won’t hurt to look at other ways I guess. Just trying to utilize what is available to me without spending a lot of money. Could use roll on bed liner to cover it afterwards. Anybody know where I can find a late 80’s johnson 110 for parts? That would help save some coins.
