A few questions

Just moved the the area and have a bunch of questions regarding fly fishing in the low country. Here’s my situation:

Trading my boat out for a MItzi but in the meantime I’m boat less. I live in Mt. Pleasant and am looking for a place I can wade out, doesn’t matter if it’s a bit of a drive as long as the spot is worth it. I’ve talked to Charleston Angler and they recommended a few spots, one off Isle of Palm Connector and another off Ben Sawyer Road. I hear parking can be a situation and getting dropped off might make it a lot easier. Where would you recommend if you had some time to kill?

My buddy was telling me that when he was in Myrtle Beach with the family, he would wade out about waist deep and blind cast out. “There’s always fish, you just never know man…” is what he was telling me. Is this something people commonly do around here? What would I even be looking to catch? Would you bring your fly rod or just stick to the spin reel?

I’m also open to freshwater options as well. I’m rigged for either.

Thanks for all your help!!

No one has suggestions?

your friend gives bad advice. You shouldn’t be waist deep anywhere, dangerous. Blind casting down here produces good casting practice, so it’s not a bad idea. Up in the grass you should be looking in 1-2’ of water for visible fish. Take Ken up on his offer and then don’t ask on here again where to go, find your own water, it’s not hard once you know what you’re looking for.

welcome to town and good luck.
