After the drawing, I turned Buddy and a few others around me on to a great source of knowledge about the Lowrance and sonar tech in general.
There is a book written by John Easton. “A Fisherman’s Guide to Sonar” This book is outstanding with lots of insight to the Lowrance side scan, down scan, and sonar in general. I have learned loads from it even though I have used sonar for years. Tons of pictures, diagrams, and ways to trick out, and install your electronics.
I highly recommend it. I believe it is a great bridge to a lot of the gaps that some folks are experiencing with their new tech.
The book, as far as I know is only available in a downloaded PDF format right. I believe it costs $5. It is primarily written for Lowrance products, but the sonar principles he discusses and illustrates hold to all manufacturer’s equipment.
This link takes you to his website, where he also blogs about sonar and other electronics. (Good stuff!)
