a flounder?

had to pretty bribe the girl and her sister with free dinner to go on the boat with me . . . but i did get my first flounder on the fly rod. unfortunately that waz the only fish yest, but a beautiful anyway. got the flounder on a shrimp pattern with hard epoxy for the body. wierd lookn little shrim if you ask me, but it worked.

ft worry.

I caught one on a chartreuse/gold copperhead pattern down near Edisto. Not much fun - just like pulling in dead weight.

A shrimp pattern does seem to be the fly for catching flounder. That and location.

they seem to like to destroy my deerhair flies

I honestly catch as many flounder on a fly in the Outer Banks as I do on live or cut bait. You gotta fish dropoffs with Clousers. I know waters there better than Charleston though. A 20 inch flounder fights pretty ■■■■ well on a fly rod. Smaller ones not so much

I’ve caught about 15 in the past 3 days on copperheads. Fishing at low tide along mud banks and oyster beds. Many times I see em busting bait right along the bank. I cast to a big pod of cruising reds yesterday, saw em turn on my fly, and bam! 12 inch flounda beat em all to the fly. sucked.

I’ve caught alot of em’ on my Mud Minnow pattern… the little ones suck, but the bigger ones are alot of fun…

toothless caught about a 4lber on a bunny pattern I tied this past sunday. The guy is so good the fish did not even have to eat the fly and we still boated her.

This is sort of off topic but I had a first on the fly the other day as well, a mussel! I thought I was just stuck but as I pulled the leader up the mussel came out of the mud and wouldn’t let go. Always something interesting out there.
