Mawhee…couldn’t you have posted that about 10 days sooner?? I bought my spot a couple of weeks ago from the West Marine on Rivers because the one in WA didn’t have it. I tried a few messages to myself driving around Charleston and it worked very well. I did put it in the dash of the car though to make sure it was facing upwards and had a clear view of the sky. Supposedly if anything is blocking these things (worse than gps in car) it will not send signal.

That’s sorry to hear you’ve had so much trouble with them. I’ve always seemed to get decent service when I’ve called them, but I haven’t had to deal with any kind of return / replacement situation.

It’s worth noting that the newer EPIRBs and PLBs have a check-in feature as well - ACR’s 406Link service. It doesn’t do tracking, but it’s something.
