A pretty good Friday

My new Humminbird Helix 12 did not lie, when it saw all of these fish, they were all there. Then all that was required was putting the baits down on the fish. We could not count, thought we had our 20 fish limit, but we only had 19! But we had a 12 lb’er and two 10 lb’ers. A pretty good day!

Fogman will post photos for me.

Nice job. Good mess of keepers, that Hummingbird look good!

Rick,
You’ve always been a Lowrance man, what made you switch? Nice catch, they look pretty fat and happy for August.

Where were you at that the water was only 77 degrees??

Most hummingbird units have a temp offset and most people don’t spend the time setting the offset to the water they are fishing.

There is no place on Lake Murray where the water is 77 degrees, unless it is in someones bait tank! And, we were not moving at 0.3 MPH, we were spotlocked.

Yeah my humminbirds have a temp offset too, but the water is what? 88-90 degrees right now? thats an awful large offset

My 7 year old hummingbird speedometer is terrible at low speeds. When going .5 it will jump anywhere from 0 to 1.5 mph. I guess they never fixed that bug. Other than that its been great. 7 years with no problems.

04 sticker on boat makes you wonder

Am I missing something? What are we talking about here?

The '04 sticker is on a rental pontoon on the other side of the dock.
Does that really look like a Tidewater 2200 Bay Boat to you, “just saying”?

I am not sure why the '04 sticker is showing, because the registration is good through 2017. I may have lost a sticker. And thank you for pointing that out.

That Helix was not out in 2004 so you all can relax now.

Nice bag though.
I would like to hear more about this Temp offset.
How do we calibrate it?

Just thinking outside the box but…
Possibly, Rick has a shoot thru puck transducer with an external temp gauge sitting in the bilge.
A large amount of ice in the fish lockers will cool the bilge. I’m not sure if ice can drop the temp to 77 on a 90+ degree day, but it may explain the weird temp reading.

Besides, if the water was only 77 everyone would be wearing pants and jackets.

I do not have a shoot thru transducer. I am also not concerned about the temperature reading, as this time of year, it does not really matter.

It doesn’t matter if its a Hummingbird or what kind of boat, the fish on the dock is what counts! Nice Catch guys!
