A tagged Red

I went out on the kayak yesterday afternoon. Caught 1 nice red with the tag number CR 9423. I am not sure where to look this up, but would like to find out more about the fish. I dont have a ruler on board my yak, but it was near 28in.

Where should I look up the tag? I have seen posts on here about it, but cant remember the info.

Thanks

Call 888-824-7472 to report a recapture.

They will send you a report with the fish’s history and a nice T shirt too. The tagger will also get a recapture report.

Those reports will give you good fishing spots too because they tell you where they release fish or at least did at one time. I have caught a few tagged fish and most of them were caught close to where they were released. However, there are certainly exceptions. The stocking program here is awesome. Karl, who is a member here, explained it a little in a response to a question I asked. Dont know why it gave me the printer friendly version but figured you may be interested. Oh yea, congrats!

Congrats on the catch. The guys are right - I’ve caught two tagged reds near Seabrook. One didn’t have much history but the other was tagged and then caught twice before I caught it - all in the same area. It was interesting how little it had moved around.
The tagging program is pretty cool and it is nice to be able to participate.

CR9423 was initially tagged on 4/13/13 right near Sullivans Island.

You can report it “officially” on the number others provided and we’ll send you a shirt.
