Well, let me just say first off how much I truly truly enjoy spending time on the water with this group of misfits. Each one of them would literally give you the shirt off their back and they are all fantastic fisherman too! Guys I had the best time in a very long time out there. Yesterday is what fishing is really all about. I laughed more yesterday than I have in a while. Thanks for putting this together guys and making it happen.
So, with light winds and small seas forecasted, we put the A-Team crew back together for another offshore slaying of fish. Me, Jerms, Flatscaster, Duckcommander, and Stretch made the journey to the ledge early in the morning looking for a little of that Carolina Gold. Lines in at 7:15 in 120’ where we caught them on Saturday and had a small dolphin adn a small king in the box before 7:30. Missed two or three more fish within the next 15 minutes shaking a little king off boatside…then not another fish in the boat after that on the troll. We tried everything. We went out to 250’ and back, tried zigg zagging the ledge for two hours and nothing. Maybe we were just trying to hard; I don’t know. But we didn’t let that spoil our fun.
At about 11 or so, we all decided after running over some great looking bottom, to stop and start bottomfishing. I hate to give up on trolling so quickly but it was really getting to be ridiculous. Two hours solid with no strikes. So we started bottom fishing near the SWB.
First drift, not much, some porgies and a small BSB. Second drift, a little better over the numbers this time, and Bam! We find the fish. Flats brings up a grouper and Duckcommander brings up a nice scamp himself plus a rockhind. This is the spot to fish we all agree. After four or five more drifts, we pull up several more grouper, some short, nothing too big, but good keepers. And usually, when you find the small guys, the big guys are around somewhere. We anchored up as best we could over that good spot and finished out the rest of the day there. Ended up

Sounds like you guys had a blast.
I’ll have to check the pictures out later. (At work now)
We’ll have to get out there and do some fishing again one of these days.
I am still known to lay down a chum slick from time to time.
