My son has been wanting a man day on the water, so Meg stayed home and we hit the water.
Started hitting grass lines at 6:45 a.m. The boy popped 2 trout, I missed one. A good start!
I wanted to hit a flat early, but I believe it was too early. A.M. high was weak and we sat on the flat about 1 1/2 hours. Chill time, but no fish. I’ll figure those flats out some day!
Hit the main Wando on falling. Caught a baby flounder and a few reds, 2 for me, one for E-dog.
Headed back down the Wando. It was BRUTAL. SE wind, falling tide, killer waves. Hugged the shore, checked out spots, and slid along.
Hit a dock on the way home I love, but the family HATES! I’ve caught fish there but it never seems to produce when they are on board. Son never even grabbed a rod. WHAM! I jacked a 28" red. He grabbed a rod then, but too late. Gotsta keep fooshin!
Bounced our butts home in the wind and wake, trailered up and headed for home. Great day!
You know when fish fall from the sky its gonna be a great day! I put the boat in, was parking the truck, and a pelican dropped this menhaden about a foot from my boy! Thanks!
Good day, Vin! That 28-incher is a hoss! I’m startin’ to look forward to your posts almost as much as I do Penny’s. Still haven’t heard back from her about the “feet” comment in my last report…
Man, you know the fish Gods love you when they are dropping fish from the sky! I haven’t forgotten about you Vin, gonna get down there with you soon. Glad you guys had a good day.
Vin, your posts are the model of an involved, loving, cool dad. Please keep up the post. What a great roll model. I hope lots of other dads see and read your posts and follow your lead.
