Guys and gals -
New 18’ Maycraft with sea foam hull - we will be in St Helena for a week in early August.
Ok to leave the boat in the water the entire week and not risk staining the hull?
Pull it mid week and wash?
Run to sandbar a few times and use a brush or cloth on the hull?
Many thanks!
Jim
You will have thousands of small barnacles on your hull after a week in the salt this time of year. I would pull it after 3 days.

with that brand new hull you should be able to remove those barnacles almost with your bare hands…but a soft, durable rag folded a couple of times should also do the trick.

I wouldn’t worry about a week, any growth you get during that time will scrub right off. 2-3 weeks in another matter.

I would think a good wax would also help keep it cleaner. I’ve wanted to try the McLube Hullkote but have not had a chance
Thanks folks!
I was as worried about a semi permanent stain on the gel coat as I was the barnacles…

a hull cleaner with oxalic acid should take care of the stains…you might wanna wax after using it, but it works like a dream…
