Abacos in August

I’m heading down to the abacos in August and wondering if anyone has any input. I usually go earlier in the summer and know the fishing can be a little tough that late but any insight is appreciated.

Where are you going? Craig Cephas on Grand Cay, about a mile off of Walkers, is the man. He’ll put you on fish whenever.

We go down every August for lobster season. Elbow Cay. The trolling that time of year is pretty weak, but we always manage to get a couple wahoo and maybe some stray dolphin. Tons of cudas. If you want to troll and actually catch something edible just pull a bunch of cedar plugs and you will catch all the 8-10 lb blackfin you want. Just look for the birds.

I’m staying on elbow cay. Where is grand cay?

Probably a little farther than a mile, but just a few miles down the Abacos chain from Walkers. I miss the Walkers Cay Resort being open.

Grand is right next door to Walkers
