Woke up at two on thursday to dead calm winds but there was a problem, the man with the boat keys way overslept. At five oclock i decieded there was no way to go back to sleep after mass coffee consumption so i drove to his house and awoke the man. Got hooked up and put the boat in at 7 at remleys, beautiful ride out doing 40s the whole way to the ledge. Missed the first five strikes we had and i turned on the silent treatment, yes the crew knew i was not happy. At nine we put a king in the box shortly followed by a gaffer mahi. After not finding life like i hoped for on the ledge i made the call to go back in shallow. Put lines in at 120’ and trolled tword comanchee immediately started getting knockdowns and the meat followed. Ended the day with 6 mahi(4 gaffers)four kings from 17 to 42lbs 2 gaff and release cudas and my biggest sailfish ever caught here in my home waters. It was funny how i was looking for sails at the ledge but caught the one I got while pulling for meat in 85’. Congrats to CO on his first bluewater trip and a slob of a kingfish. This trip rigverrunner was hot with the gaff, a welcomed sight. All the big fish were caught on the long rigger wtfb. It is safe to say we were short bit and missed another 15 fish. Any lure with black was hot but the black and red blue water candy jag was blowing my mind with all the strikes it was getting. I await a report from jws on his trip today. Will post pictures latter of the action. Tight lines!http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk208/DannyM97/100_0282.jpg

CaptDan those are some beautiful fish but that sail takes the prize, congrats on landing that one
Capt Dan - I tried to raise you on the radio, per your request on a previous post, Thursday. We were offshore the 226 Hole on a weed line we had to ourselves. We enjoyed a flat ocean and a good bite. Congrats on the sail. Our big mystery was what beast made off with the port teaser. We didn’t see but heard it when the rigger line parted.

Nice Sailfish! Congrats on the day.

Springtide,
I never heard you call on the radio, thanks for the attempt though. Glad you guys did good on the weed line. We found lots of weeds in about 250 but there was no organized line making it kinda tough to fish. It sounds like the big one got that teaser, too bad he didnt take a hook. It was a beautiful day to be on the ocean!
Reel Nice.
