Fished shallow water 18" and less the past few days for reds with artificials. Not as easy as live bait, but the challenge and reward is better for me. Fish stayed schooled up and hit the slow 3" pop retrieve with 1/8 ounce jig head. Wind and murky water made it difficult but i tapidly changed bait colors and jig weight to keep the fish interested and it paid off. However, when the water changed to crisp clarity it was even more difficult/imlossible to not have the fish spook when i either caught one of their homies or a school saw my boat, still workin on that.
Nice fish and report, thanks!

I caught 5 on topwater one morning, on 4 different colors. After a couple casts and getting one, they wouldn’t touch that color. Switch up and bam…
what locale were they that shallow. havent found anything that isnt deep lately and i much prefer the shallows?
Sniper: All i fish is shallow. I find productive flats where its open enough to allow the wind to push the water against the bank and creates long flats. Not sure where you fish but I would look for spots there where the north east wind help you and not hurt you
Thats it, its crazy… but addictive!
