Ran out later after sleeping in. Started fishing about 11:00 am in 65 feet. Lots of keeper BSB but not much else. After putting 10 or so nice ones in the box we decided to run out a little further.
Fished in 85 feet and lots more BSB and some very nice sized snapper. Lots of two at a time. Highlights of the trip was my 77 year old neighbor, who had a hip replaced this fall, catching a nice 5 pound snapper and a 4 pound BSB together on a 2 hook rig. It was his first trip in the ocean in 5 years because of hip problems. He had given up on going out - but the hip replacement has been a near miracle. The ocean was absolutely beautiful - coming back we ran 30 knots - and the Addie “B” is not a 30 knot boat.
No grouper - but a nice trip. Kept about 25 nice BSB and 12 snapper.
We used squid for the bsb and mostly cut bait for the snapper although we caught a couple on squid. The larger ones were caught on some live small grunts that we caught with squid.
