Addie "B" Saturday

I hope this was my bad day for the year. Decided to go to the Deli instead of the 226 at the last minute. Probably a mistake.

My 13 month old Yamaha Fuel Mgmt system blew a fuse taking the boat to the dock. It appears to be shot just out of waranty - strike one.

Left the dock at Edisto at 4:00 AM with a rookie on board. Started fishing in 200 ’ at 7:30. Rookie was bad sick. Picked up a dolphin in 5 minutes, then another knockdowm, then a real nice dolphin for the rookie - about halfway to the boat - he lets the line go slack and hangs over the edge - lost a big dolphin - what the heck - three strikes in ten minutes?

Next strike noon - we had 75-78 degree water everywhere, little or no bait - dead - trolled out to 500 feet, in to 200 feet and then north to within 10 miles of the Edisto Banks. The noon strke was a good fish - maybe that wahoo we were looking for? - no - a big cuda. - strike 2.

Picked up a nice dolphin at 3:00 in 150’ then decided to try the bottom. Picked up and started to run in and heard a bang - the 13 mos old finder transducer was flying in the propwash - pin had come out - one month out of warranty - no bottom fishing - strike 3.

We have had worse days but not many - still beautiful day on the water and some dolphin for supper.

had a little trouble last week with the transducer as well. Nice dolphing got wrapped around it and broke the mount.

Check out this site they make the transducers for all major brands. They shipped the transducer next day, and was on the doorstep 2 days later.

Pat, its good to hear from you. And I am sure you’ll have some good trips with your bad luck out of the way.

I had a transducer problem on Sunday too. We were running out at about 30 knots, and the boat cleared the water on one wave. And when it came back down the transducer was knocked out of its bracket…so we spent the day with just the depth numbers on the chart. I might have gotten in the water to fix it, but we did see and hear of an unusual number of sharks.

Nice to hear from you Roger. I know what you mean on the sharks. We had an 8 footer move through our spread. He was real interested in the way back line with the bird, but thank goodness he didn’t eat it.
