Addie "B" Sunday 6-10 - (pics)

Had a nice trip, one of our best ever on Sunday based on the wahoo catch.

Started fishing at 7:00 am right on the Edisto Banks and trolled out towards the 226. Nothing but a cutoff for about 2 hours. Then the right rigger screams but no hookup and the same on the flatline. He finally hooked up on the left rigger and stripped a 30 wide down to 100 yards. My youngest son, Adam got him to the boat after about 20 minutes. - too big for the fishbox - we had to head and gut him to get him in the long box- The headed and gutted fish weighed 52 pounds. He also ate one of the fish on the dredge.

Later we picked up a nice dolphin and then a 25 pound wahoo, then another nice dolphin and a 30 pound wahoo. The bonus was a sailfish, the first billfish for my neighbor, Mike Cook. We had to head for the hill about 2:00 and I hate to quit when they are biting. Total was three Wahoo, two dolphin and a sail. The bite was slow but steady after lunch. We we looking for wahoo and finaly put some in the boat.

Nice report and pics Pat!

Nice job on the hoos. I’d rather catch those than anything else. What did they hit?

Outstanding!
I am crossing my fingers that things will work for me this weekend.

Nice catch. Is that a MyLure that the sail fish hit. We catch a lot of Wahoo on that same lure. Did you have a ballyhoo with it? Also, was the fish from your dredge in the Wahoo’s stomach when you gutted him?? We’re loosing about 2 fish per trip from the dredge. Again, nice catch. Looks like a big sail.

Both the sailfish and the big wahoo hit the mylure. It’s been a great lure for us. It was rigged with ballyhoo.

One of the other wahoos hit a pink and white ribazon behind a daisy chain and the other hit a purple plastic cedar type plug behind a bird on the shotgun.

We gutted the big wahoo on the boat and cut off the head. I didn’t look for the plastic fish but it ended up missing after the big wahoo was landed and he hit near everything else we had out before we hooked him.

I thought it was a Mylure. We’ve actually had a Wahoo bite it so hard that it cut back the skirt to about 1/2". Guess I’ll need to replace it. Congrats again on the bill fish & the great meat. Try dipping the wahoo in a Jamaican Jerk sauce, then a batter, & fry. We tried this last time & it was awesome. We actually picked up the Jamaican Jerk sauce at Target. It’s awesome fried or grilled. Just something different when you’ve eaten about 50lbs of fish already this season.

I’ll try that. I had some tonite grilled with a little olive oil, some lemon juice, a little soy sauce and some fresh ground ginger. The fresh ground ginger is some good stuff too.

Excellent job on the wahoo and sail.

Just to let you know, all saltwater gamefish have to be landed with head and tail in tact. Don’t know if DNR would really give you a hard time about this or not; just passing along some info that might save you some money on a ticket one day.

Congrats on getting your boy out there and catching some fish. That stickfish bonus merits a celebration. Good job guys.

Yep - I knew that. I told my oldest son when we headed it that if they ticketed me -I would go and see the judge on that one. It was the only way I could preserve the fish. I guess I need to get a fish bag. The wahoo was 62" long.
