I’m looking for a place to fish from shore with my 4 yr old. Something that will produce. It doesn’t matter what we catch so much as we catch something. We’ve been out a few times with little luck and I don’t want him to lose interest. We’ve been to the end of Ladson Rd, Riverfront Park at old navy base, the pier under the Ravenel Bridge in Mt. P. All we have gotten in 5-6 trips is one 18in bluefish from Riverfront Pk. Anyone have suggestions?
Try the old pitt st.bridge, brittle bank park, and bushy park.
Double D.
Mike,
Spend some time perfecting your search foo on this site. There are many, many more answers to your question, along with reports, techniques, etc. Remember, too, that surf fishing produces almost every time, and it’s a trip to the beach!
Tidewater 196DC
Yamaha F115
Pungo 120
Take him to SI off the beach and catch sharks and other random fish
GO to folly pier, but go to Crosby sea food and pick up shrimp and when you buy the fishing pass at the pier get the size 10 circle hooks and you can catch stuff all day.
fish nude so u can show off ur pole…
the Bears Bluff fish hatchery does kids days and their ponds are obviously loaded.
Give the south end of Sullivan’s Island a try.
Any beach will produce fish with double drop rigs or fish finder rigs and shrimp or cut mullet. Pitt Street bridge is good on Incoming High and Outgoing. Whiting, Small Blues, Trout and Reds along with other bait stealer can be caught. Folly Pier and Waterfront Pier are good, but cost $$$. Id rather save my $$$ and fish the beach.
You’ll also get more respnses from people if you post in inshore discussion or the surf/pier forum. lot of people don’t like to respond to threads in the wrong topic.
good luck

Consider fresh water over salt for a beginning child. Much easier to catch bream etc., and get him excited. There are several child ‘only’ places to fish w/in the local 3 counties. All are posted on DNR sites.
Good luck w/ the new fisherman!
Lot of Fresh Water lakes/ponds around that you can cast worms or crickets or artificals and catch catfish, bream, sunfish, and even Bass. Good Luck. Take Pictures and post a report!
