As the title states I am trying to get some prices for an all day offshore charter for about 8 Navy Personnel. If you have a boat and are willing to take us out or know someone who is and is affordable please let me know and we can work something out. Thank you in advance.
The only way to get 8 out is charter one of the large vessels with a master licensed captain. A six pack license only allows up to 6 paying passengers. Otherwise you might consider getting two boats with 4 on each. I run $1,000 for an all day offshore bottom trip. Other guys are about that too, so the cost for two boats would be about $2,000. I imagine one of the large boats would run fairly close to that as well.

Sulcataman, Thank you for the reply. We are looking more for someone with a personal vessel that would be interested in taking out a group. if we can only take 6, that would be fine. We are willing to pay for gas, bait, food and drinks. Not really looking for an actual charter company, many of us cannot afford those prices. Thank you for your input though
Your looking for a personal boat take you out, do you have all the tackle needed then?
$200 each is not a bad price.

I can’t get on board with this. You specifically asked for a charter, and then state you want a private boat that you’ll pay for. That is so illegal it isn’t even funny. And to spell it out on a public forum is ludicrous.
Sorry if I seem harsh, but charters are I business for a reason.
Otherwise, go to a MAD event and let your guys fish on the up&up
I’m just confused. They seem be looking for a gas split trip but as tourists, this post is all kinds of confusing lol
I am confused as well…I thought this was a place to find someone to fish with…not a chum slick for charter Captains. I mean they are a group of active duty guys wanting to fish…I remember when I was in we didn’t get paid what we should have earned and that was not but a few years ago…and I don’t think splitting cost for a fishing trip is illegal it is good etiquette. The guy just didn’t know how to ask for what he was looking for. He even corrected himself stating he wasn’t looking to hire a “charter company”.
I agree with you Cape Fisherman. The MAD event in November is there for the active duty service. That way there is no charge, no splitting cost, and a great free meal with great people. I took five airman, for free, last year and intend to do it again this year. We provided everything including drinks and snacks. I believe it will be on November 12th VDUB. Check it out on Google, Military Appreciation Day, Charleston.

I apologize for the confusion. I should have been more clear in my initial post and more specifically not used the word “charter”. We are looking for someone who owns their own boat, regularly goes offshore fishing and would be willing to take a few guys with them. In return for the generosity we will pay for the gas, bait, and any other expenses for the days trip. to answer FishingDuo’s question, yes I do have all necessary equipment for bottom fishing or trolling. I simply do not have a boat. There is absolutely nothing illegal about this as there is no “profit” to be made. Like Tigershrk21 said, I thought was a place to request a “fishing buddy” not a place for charter captains to show their distain for such a situation. Its called " Fishing Match up" not “locate a charter captain”.

A charter for 8 people is a specialized service offered by a select few. If you decide to go with a legit charter Mark Brown on Teaser 2 is your man.

I think you addressed your own point there.
Putting 9 people on a boat (assuming one of those people is the boat owner…) to go fishing would require a large boat specifically set up for that. What you are looking for is a charter, what you want is someone with a charter boat to take you and your buddies out for expenses only. As was mentioned above , check out the MAD event. It seems like a great option for you and your guys.
As mentioned above, the MAD event would love to have you. A few things to point out about the MAD event would be that your group would most likely be broken down to smaller groups pending the size and capacity of boats available and would most likely be inshore fishing instead of off shore. But also as mentioned above, if you are active duty, MAD is 100% free and will come with a awesome BBQ dinner after a day of fishing. Let us know if you are interested and THANK-YOU for your service!!
One Simple Thanks!!
Thank you all for your input. pitviper0404, if you could please relay any information you have in regards to the MAD event we would appreciate it i.e. flyers, website, etc. My email is vanwyckmark@hotmail.com. Again I appreciate the positive ■■■■■■■■.

There is nothing illegal about splitting the actual expenses, most people do that with their fishing partners anyway. What is not legal is telling someone up front that it will cost them a fixed amount to go fishing. Never tell someone you will take them fishing for $100, or you just legally became a charter boat and better have all required licenses. And good insurance.

Have each friend post on here and go by themselves.
Once each one has gotten to know the captains, discuss possibly inviting each other.
This way you have a group of people to pull from when slots open and a group of boats to watch for open slots.
I will take 1, but you wont see any blue water, just creeks mud and grass.
