Been havin some issues with my Ambassadeur 5600 for the past year or so. Started with the level wind not going back and forth so I ended up removing it. Now the reel wont click/engage when I try to reel it so it just free spins without retreving line. Ive taken it apart several times and tried to mess with it, but now Im in over my head. I would love to try to salvage the reel because its my favorite real for inshore fishing. Anyone know of a good place to take it to get it fixed without costing me the price of replacing it?

First of all you should have put a new pall on the level wind. The blade tips wear out and won’t make contact with the level wind. As far as free wheeling you don’t have it put back together right. You can get a schematic for the reel from the internet. I can’t remember the site, just go into ABU GARCIA.com and look. Good luck.
