First trip of the year. Glad to be back on the boat and back fishing. The weather man has been very unkind to us the few trips that we have had. First time I have fished since sept 27th. Sincne then I have gotten married(and yes we are still married) and I have been working at plantation.
Will has been traveling the world the last few months trying to release a sailfish and have fun while he is young. Glad he is back on Aggressor.
Today we took the Hollingsworth Boys from Beachside realty and Darrell. Also we had the honor of having Charlie"Montukie" Lewis of Big Rock and Bak Bar fame to show us a few things.
The day started at 5AM and the ocean was very DARK. We made it out to the hole luckily and we put lines out at 7AM. Caught a blackfin out of the gate and there was a celebratory victory beer. Trolled back around and caught another blackfin.
Steady action with 9 blackfins(pulled off another 7 or 8), AJ’s, Cuda’s, Bonitas, and 2 dolphins. One was a true BG gaffer(I called Bobby in Mexico to let him know). Missed 3 wahoos. Not good!!!
There was a MAJOR slowdown from 11 to 1:30. Luckily the more beers they drank and the more “nelliville” they played we got a few more bites.
Water was 67 degrees. Fished up to the hole at the 000’s and 150’s was the hotspot. NO BAIT, NO GRASS, and NO FLYING FISH. I guess i just got lucky.
Anyways it was a good trial run for the Agrressor. The fish are here and you have to go to know. Suppossed to go all this week end if weather lets us. will post pictures tommorrow on our website and here.
Capt Michael,
I am still a bit new to fishing North of charleston, on my own boat.
Over the off season I upgraded to a 30’er and want to fish some North of Charleston this season,
we usually head straight out or south a bit.
What do you mean by 000 and 150’s in your report? Are those Loran C numbers?
Great report, especially early in the season, sounds like a lot of fun was had by all…cant wait for the pics…
Wow,a fancy feast will be held. That’s a LONG way for one maybe two quality fish.Oh well,I will wait for warmer water.I know that crowd had a good time,at the end of the day that’s all that matters.
Way to put on a good show. You are right. If there are this many boats on a Tuesday in March, then it's going to be quite the place to fish on a Saturday in May...
