I’ve got a problem with air getting into my gas line. Under 4k rpm’s it’s ok but over that and it starts hesitating and I have to squeeze the bulb. Any suggestions as to how to find/repair the leak. I thought about coating the line in soap suds and blowing air into the line but didn’t know if that could cause any problems.

This brings back bad memories. I replaced all my fuel lines from the tank to the motor and I could still hear air being drawn in everytime I squeezed the bulb. Turned it was an air leak at the anti-siphoning valve where it screws into a 90 degree elbow. I popped the old one out and put a new one in with gas approved sealant, and it ran like a champ.
You can try to find it using soap and low pressure air, but sometimes the leak will only leak under vacuum and not pressure. Best thing to do is just go through every connection since if one is bad then there may be some that are close to being bad as well. Check for tightness on screw in fittings like at the filter and loose hose clamps. If the ends of the hoses looked cracked or deteriorated, cut back the bad portion and reconnect. Replace if necessary. Don’t overlook a leak at the motor itself.

Did you change anything before having this problem?I had a similar problem with my yamaha 60 and it turned out to be a bad primer bulb,if its the bulb use a yamaha bulb not the cheap ones.
This has been a problem ever since I bought it, it’s just gotten a lot worse the last 2 trips to Florida.

hook up a portable tank, and run it, and see if its better
that will tell if its boat or motor
