Just booked a Halibut trip to The last Frontier:smiley:
Nice…
nice! where at and what charter? ive done it once before and nobody caught a barn door but it was still a blast. pretty sure i reeled in 5 smaller halibut up to 30lbs and a couple spiny dogfish.
Going to fish out of Seward. Staying at the Military Resort and have booked charters with ProFish-N-Sea Charters! I’ve fished with them in the past and they are first rate.
This is a 1 day catch the last time I was up! Hope we do as well this
time?
nice i went out of seward too back in 2007 but i booked with aurora charters. all halibut were chickens up to about 30lbs but i had no complaints eating them! other people on the boat caught plenty of rockfish and a couple lingcod. leave it to me to catch the only 2 dogfish. pretty sure 16 people were on the boat and the only guy to not bring home 2 fish was busier chumming the water than fishing. also tried ship creek in anchorage when we were there and got a few pink salmon with a rental rod. didnt have anything to clean fish in the hotel so i figured id give em away but youd think i was trying to hand out mudfish! despite being fun to reel in nobody wanted the pinks by any means…only cohos.
Yeah I know what you mean about the Salmon. I was stationed up there in the late 70’s and you got sick of eating Salmon. Everyone smokes it and everyone has their own SECRET brine recipe and insists you try it. LOL
which one is you??

Very nice catch! I was only in Alaska a short stay and for those that think the lowcountry can be bad for Mosquitoes have never been in Alaskan grass land or woods the summer.
Bring us all back some good pics Easy!
Gonna be hard to beat the one I posted above, but I’ll give it my best try! That was a Hellofaday! My goal for that trip was to send 100 lbs. of fillets home. I made it! Not setting a goal this time, just want to send as much as I can home.

Penny the pink ones are Yellow Eye Rock Fish. Kind of look like a Red Snapper but don’t taste as good! You are only allowed 1 a day because they grow so slow. You catch them in deep water and they have to be vented. Then it’s 50/50/ if they make it.
