Hey boys, I have seen the company Albright being discussed here and i was wondering if y’all had some experience or advice regarding their stuff. i am looking at a 10 weight and a intermediate line, the rod is a XX and it is only $ 129 and the line is only $ 29.00. Now typically i would be looking in other directions but I have a tarpon trip in May in cancun and I might need a 10 (got a 9 already) and also the Harkers trip this coming Fall for Albacore. I am not going to be pulling this rod out as much as my 4-7 weights and cost is very important. thanks for your thoughts, and enjoy your weather I got like a foot of snow and it’s still coming down
If you can, cast it. Regardless of what anyone on here tells you, if you can cast it well, buy it. If you don’t cast it well, then I would look elsewhere.
Just my .02 - I’ve really got no experience with Albright, so no specific info to give ya.
I have the 7 and 9 wt. They are a great rods with very good components. I think my 7 is more like an 8 wt and the 9 more a ten. They are made more for striper fishing and I think they are a little heavy based on the advertised wt. I like my Albright better than my sage launch and it was half the price.
It is a good company. I bought my first outfit from them because of the price. My reel lock up and they replaced it. Nice guys, you can call the company and speak with them directly.
For the price, it is a great deal. They have taken 50% of the cost out by going direct to the consumer.
You may have a hard time finding one to cast. I will be at the film tour in Charleston if you want to cast either of mine.
A dude just posted a Loomis CC 10wt on here for $200…you may want to jump on that
Thanks Winyah I sent him a pm. preciate it!
If it swims throw a fly at it!
I looked into an albright a while ago before I started building my own.
there are actually 2 companies called albright. one is based in the US. the other is in china with the same name. They have tried to put a cease and desist order on them but being a chinese company it is very difficult.
Make sure you are buying what you think you are. check the manufactures web site for the model number. I double checked a 3-4wt I found online and it turned out to be the chinese knock off.
The real Albright seems to be a good company, very helpful, seems like a good warranty, and a good product for the price.
Looks like they are having a clearance sale now! WOW! Great deals right now.
The XX looks like a nice 10wt. If cost is an issue, I have a Eagle Claw Granger 9/10wt that I really like. Showed it to a buddy who is now a guide in Florida. He’s outfitted his boat with them for clients who don’t have a fly rod with them on vacation.

Just emailed Albright about the action of one of their rods. got a response within an hour from the CEO/owner…

Barry,
Look at Colton Fly. They have a life time warranty and go to ebay and you can get a 10 wt rod shipped for 157.
I have heard some good stuff.
I was looking at getting a 10wt=12wt but the albright does not have a full warranty.
The colton for almost the same price has a full war…
