Is there a place in Charleston that aligns trailer axles - I have the rear tire one side and the front tire on the opposite side scuffing. I don’t have a clue how to fix myself. I live 50 miles from Charleston and want a place that fixes it right the first time.
Has the axel moved on one side of the frame? You could tell if it has by crawling under it and looking at where the U bolts attach to the springs. If it has moved you should be able to see the old mark where it used to be bolted up. That’s the first thing I would check! If you see that it has moved, it will be easy to move back and rebolt with new U bolts. Just look for the dirt or discolored line and loosed the U bolts and put it back to the line! Your going to have to take the U bolts loose anyway to put the little stub on the bottom of the spring into the alignment hole on the pad on the axel! That will align everything! Unless you have a broken spring shackel!
What type axle ? If it’s a torsion you have to replace the entire assembly. Have you pulled the wheel bearings and checked them ? If the bearings were not “set correctly” at last repack could cause problem. Loose locking nuts over the bearings will cause abnormal tire wear. Measure the distance from the ball to the spring clamps, should be same.
