All good things come to an end...

Well, I just typed quite possibly the longest, most detailed report ever on CF. Then IE froze on me and I lost it all.

I’ll have to do it again tomorrow if I find the motivation.

That’s all for now.

Did you ever get to try the mouse-fly in NZ? Hopefully that was what your report was about!

Jerms. A little trick I use when posting to various forums.
Type your post in a text editor first. Then cut and paste when you’re ready. You’ll never lose another post.
Happy New Year to all here. 2010 is the year I catch my first fish otf.

Pics… too tired to type up the story so these will have to do for now.

These pics were all taken within about 5 or 6 hours.

Limestone gorges, 17 rainbows from 3-6 pounds, a lost net, a gentleman I ran across who found and returned my net, a lost 8 or 9 pound rainbow due to not having that net, pics of less than half the fish, a cave that I explored on my hike out with a Kiwi couple I ran into at the mouth of the cave, and a 1/2 mile trek underground. I love that place…

Thanks guys!

Optiker, I did get to fish mouse flies… I picked up three of them from a shop and hit a small spring creek for the last couple of hours before dark. On my third cast I had a big brown follow and refuse the fly at the very last second. Ten minutes later I get another big boy to stick his head out of the water and slurp the fly down. As soon as I set he exploded out of the water and through some willow bracnches that were just a foot or so above the surface, wrapping my flyline up pretty bad. Obviously the leader busted and I nearly didn’t get my flylin back it was so bad.

On to mouse fly #2… Moved down to another good pool and had a fish explode on the thing. I never saw him coming in the failing light and it took me completely by surprise. No chance here, he popped the leader when he hit.

Fly #3… One more mousie, so of course I place it solidly in the higher branches of a willow on my backcast. Unrecoverable.

I guess I should have bought ten of them?

Those are amazing pictures Jerms. Truly inspiring.
Chris.

I can’t even begin to tell you how jealous and excited I am for you at the same time. And to think that a lot of those pics aren’t from the “Nice” camera. I really hope I can make a trip with you sometime soon!

Fantastic pictures. Thanks for sharing with all of us.
