I went to cancun in May for a week and we looked at cozumel, cabo, jamaica, costa rica, alcapulco, etc. We ended up at cancun because it was a little cheaper. We ended up at the RIU Caribe (all inclusive). We were very impressed with the RIU chain. The customer service was impecable. We are already looking to plan our next week vacation for 2009 and will go to another RIU and maybe back to cancun. I was a little worried about going there, but I was very impressed. The only reason why I would go to another place would be just to see a place I have never been, but I would try to find a RIU chain of resort. We went from saturday to saturday and my roundtrip airline ticket, resort accomodations with all food and drinks…everything was $1,240. The airline by itself was $540. Roughly comes out to $100 per day for lodging, food, and alcohol.

I did some inshore fishing while I was there and caught tarpon, snook, jacks, etc. great fishing trip! Guide was as good as a guide
could be.

If you want any more info about the trip…send me an email at burlesonoutdoors@yahoo.com

Good Luck!

I have been to cancun for the past 5 years. We stay at the Gran Melia. It is not only all inclusive. You have to buy it separately. It is an awesome hotel. But if you are looking for night life at the hotel, this is not for you.
We just like to go relax, hangout and brink without the kids. There are other all inclusive only places and from what I have seen and heard, there are lots of flat-out drunks.
If you want to get your drunk on and party day and night. I would not stay here. We start drinking when the bar opened at 1030. And our nights were early, with the exception of one night per trip we good to Senior Frogs and the rest of the bar downtown.

We did the beeches(sandals) resort in ocho rios last year, all inclusive, all the great food you could ever want, red stripe stocked fridge in the room, mixed drinks as strong as you want 'em, also tons of kids activities and sesame street characters running around. diving, snorkling, fishing, sailing, kayaking all right there as well. i have a video around here somehwere if you want to check it out.

thanks trout, we don’t have kids and are trying to stay away from kid-friendly places if possible.

Stayed at the El Dorado Seaside Suites in Tulum, Mexico. Beautiful place with a nice reef right off the beach. Loved it. Not far from the ruins at Tulum and not far from Xel Ha.
