Finally the weather laid down on a weekend so that The Judge, Chunky Dunk, and I could fish together. T-top Tom and Planter came along and worked the rods.
We met up with Split Decision and Double Play at GT ice at 5:15 and discussed the game plan. Big Easy passed around a play book consisting of some good temp breaks and numbers. We decided to split up until we found the fish.
We cleared the jetties at just before 6 and were greeted with a beautiful ocean. T-top and I enjoyed some tunes while we reminisced about the good ole days. The rest of the crew slept in the bags. We arrived at our spot and deployed the trap. Chunky shouted out orders and told everyone how good he was as usual. Added some lines to the riggers and were able to troll 10 rods yesterday. That kept T-top, Chunky, and Planter busy while I drove us to the fish. The Judge kept watch and enjoyed his morning nap. T-top shouted big fish and a nice bull darted thought the spread. The avet screamed to life and it was ON!! Planter grabbed the rod. Chunky put a belt on him while the rest of the crew cleared lines. Planter worked him in nice. Judge leadered him and Chunky stuck him with the gaff and brought him into T-top’s open fish box. Close the lid put the rod in the holder and crab a cold one. Mostly steady action through out the day. We did have a few dry spells but Chunky broke them by eating the lucky hot dill pickles. At one point just eating them was not working so T-top drank about half a jars worth of juice. The avets started screaming again.
We fished between 150 and 350ft all day and never made it back to our 750 that we caught them in on Wednesday. The spread consisted of 8 LEHI sqwitches and drops shots along with a plainer and a bonita plug. #130 fluro wind-on leaders with 8/0 7691DT mustad hooks and ballyhoo. Water temp was 76 and we were alittle north of the GTH. I think that covers everything.

I hate to do this because of that whole sibling rivalry thing
Y’all have definately got everything dialed in now.
Congrats on another great day

I thought you were in the Keys??? If so what is the report?

Do I see a harness, a full grown man, and a ten pound dolphin in the same picture?
MM
The harness was there to protect the rod and reel. If we lost that rod we would not be able to keep the full spread. We had 4 more anglers on board so we could afford to loose the rod man just not the rod.

The frkin report is mangrove snaps, popano and jacks caught along w/ a tarpon hooked accidently on a Shimano 2000 spinner for about 1.5 min. First fish I caught was a 3 inch toadfish on pinfish steak. I would post pictures but my camera mysteriously disappeared last night. Someone came on the dock and got it apparently.
Oh and T-storms and small craft advisories with 20-30mph east wind all week…
Any pointers for fishing in partly to mostly shatty conditions here???

Sharks! Find a deep channel, get a chum block and a nasty slap of meat. Put it on the TRX and hold on.
That sucks about the weather. To many opportunities down there to be blown out.
