Got a phone call from the Judge, “The family that takes care of us in Kansas during deer season is coming into town and tehy want to catch a shark…” Okay, I should be able to pull that off!
So Chunky, Mini-Me, Pross, Judge, Kansas-Chris, Kansas Trish, Kansas Chantzi and I rolled out of the jetties into a confused ocean but we lay her in the trough and before you know it we were putting out the lines.
Now this was their first trip offshore in a fishing boat, couple of cruises but Kansas is a long haul from the ocean. Chris bass fishes quite a bit so he was great with the basics.
Soon as we get the trap set a dolphin, no Chantzi not flipper, the green fish dove on the teaser, Chunky fed him the short flat like a beer can to a billy goat! Fish on!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
My green crew quickly showed us southern boys how tough they could be!
Chantzi worked her first dolphin to the boat like a champ!
Gaff shot in the head and the score was 1-0!
Trish’s turn next and before you know it the short rigger is singing!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!
Just like a seasoned pro she brought a nice cow to the boat!
Chris is loving it, watching his girls crank in the maui but you can tell the wheels are turning, we pass over a mark and he asks “hey what do you think that is?” Does the word reef donkey mean anything to you? “Uh?” he says? I pull them back and we clear some rods, Chris I hope you ate your wheaties this morning!
As mentioned he bass fishes a lot, and picked up jigging pretty quick. Before you know it the rod bends to the water and he starts grunting. The HEE-HAWS start from the peanut galley.
We let the donkey go but the smile tells the real sto
