All Rise 5/16 (few pics)

Got the call form Chunky Dunk late wanting to give it a go Wednesday morning. Cleared it with the boss and I took off for the low country. On the way I ran my cell phone hot trying to pull a crew together. Phin, MCMARINE, Pallet, Partsman, RightRX, and the list goes on. All were no goes. So Hairy, Chunky Dunk, and Whaler buddy headed out early Wednesday morning.

We cleared the jetties around 5:30 and were greeted with a sloppy ocean and had to run straight into it to the GTH. After coming out of the water a few times and Hairy complaining that his bean bag ride was starting to feel something like a match with Rick Flair I backed off a bit and took easy. Deployed the 8 rod trap around 7:45 first fish on at 7:50 in about 150 feet of water. Decent fish that hit the WB rod. Whaler buddy worked him over and Hairy gaffed and him and put him in the box. We trolled out to 750feet and found a good school of fish that we thought were tuna. 6 of 8 go down. The 4 of us worked them in. CD put a bonita in first. The rest of the fish seemed to be fighting much bigger. Then they stared jumping. The next 4 would be dolphin. Big fish but no tuna. We stayed in the same area all day and picked at the dolphin. No signs of bill fish, wahoo, or yfts.
Fished a small break with some flyers. The WB back rod and 2 long riggers seemed to produce most of the fish. As usual all but 2 were caught on LEHIs (bonita on a cedar plug and last dolphin on a Yozuri Bonita) At 3:15 we put on the last ballyhoo. By 3:30 we had 2 more in the box and were out of hoos and low on ice. We secured the boat and headed for the hill. Ran just over 40 on the ride home. Beautiful day and a worn out crew.

Highlights:
Hairy’s version of the “Great American fisherman” song to include the activities of the day.
My gaffing 101 class that included sticking a fish and due to my super human strength throwing him straight up in the air above the t-top and slamming him into the boat. UFC here I come!

Good work SFG.We should all be thankful that Bigeasy revealed his “head shot” gaffing technique. Looks like it is paying dividends.

Where is BigEasy’s report? He was on them pretty good yesterday as well. Looks like the secret is having Chunky Dunk on board. He knows everything about saltwater fishing. If you don’t believe me just ask him!:smiley: When are you heading out again? Sounds like Pallet and Chunky are trying to go Sunday and Monday. Hard to mess with big money like that.

Edisto Fisher, you are welcome to join the list. It is hard to find people that can drop everything in less than 24hrs to go fishing all day during the week. hwilcox is coming to edisto the same week in June that we will be there. We should all head out one day and catch some spades. Not sure how hard it is going to be to anchor the All Rise. She requires lots of chain and a crew with a weak mind and strong back. We have plenty of the weak minds but not much of the strong backs.

Phin, reels were great! Wish you would have been there to show us how to workem like a Pro! I wanted to troll the SX but did not want to risk tangling the spread. I will catch one on it before the end of the summer. How was the cobia action?

Thanks for helping me out on the black one. It will go in the mail first thing in the morning.

Are you going on Sunday? I will try to talk the boss into it but she will probably not let me go twice in a week. The honey-do list is 10 pages now. Chunky D. and the Judge are going with or with out me if the weather holds.
