All Rise report 22-April (pics and short video)

The Judge, Chunky, myself along with 2 total green horns teamed up with Holton in hopes of finding some early season meat fish. Got alittle bit of a late start but the ocean was forgiving and we had a fast, comfortable ride out. Had to drive around alot more than I wanted but I finally found the water I was looking for at 11:30.

Chunky and Holton were giving me a hard time by the lack of fish in the box when two rods went down. Pretty much non stop action from here on. Chunky and Holton ran the spread to perfection and our two green horns cranked them in. To have zero experience offshore FB and John did very well and did not make any rookie mistakes. I do think they are both sore this morning.

Hotbaits for the day were the LEHI sqwitch that boated our biggest tuna at 31 pounds 3 ounces and Full Pull Captain Ed baits.

Lines out at 4 and enjoyed a slick ride home.

10 blackfin
4 dolphin
1 wahoo
couple of reef donkeys that were released to destroy someone else’s bait another day.

Highlights:
Beautiful ocean, nice weather and a very fun crew.

Watching 2 guys that had never caught a blue water fish put a meat fish slam together on their maiden voyage.

Hearing John say in almost a disappointing voice “Aw, another tuna!?” We all laughed.
Just found a short video of this on dad’s camera.

Had 2 occasions with double knock downs and 1 occasion with a triple knockdown. The crew boated everyone. Very good job doing the cockpit dance and keeping them untangled.

Had a blast, can’t wait to go again!

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Good fishing. Let’s get that trip together that we keep talking about.

What are those spots on the tuna’s bellies? Is that normal?

Clarendon boys have right to be proud. You aren’t the only ones from the OBC and CC area that know how to troll though.

Watch me trolling right here on your thread right now.

About average for this time of year. Nothing terribly exciting. We did let the smallest go to keep the fishing gods on our side.

Obsession give me a call anytime. I will let you know the next time we head out. If nothing else we can drink a beer on the back of our buddies new mezzanine.

JordanOnaYak, not sure what the spots are. Had them on a few of the tuna though.

We kept 11 and we let some go also. 3 spit the hook and 1 came off as it was being slung into the boat:smiley::smiley:

D! All of the above!

Caught a few on the plainer, short flat, long, and even a wire rigged bonita lure. They did not seem to picky once they started biting.

You guys need to get a new gaff. From the way that chunky was holding it in the video, it appears that somebody installed the gaff hook upside down!

Skinny if you have never fished with Chunky it is worth the price of admission, i have personally seen him gaff them in the head, tail, guts, eye socket, lips but never in the daisy chain i think S4G holds that title for that still.

Well guys when you good as me you can hold the gaff anyway!:wink:lol you got to get em any way you can! the only objective is to get em in the boat!

You mean that you've actually fished with both Chunky and S4G at the same time?!?!? Wow! I don't know if I am willing to put myself through something like that! Those Claredon boys are a handful!!!
