Fished with Lady’s Man, Chunky Dunk, Upstatelawn, Hwilcox, and Ms Ginger yesterday on a beautiful ocean. Started at the hole and quickly realized we were not going to fill the boxes there. Pushed out in search of life. Found a nice weed patch in 900feet and spent the next few hours slowly picking at them. At 3:30 only had 5 in the box. Defeated I made the call to head back in since I had to be at work in the upstate this morning. Chunky says lets make a bottom drop on the ledge on the way home. Maybe we can find a wahoo too.
I punched in home and found a spot on our path. Trolling rods up and out comes the bottom gear. 5 miles short of our spot the most beautiful rip, weedline, 4x4 logs, trash, green/blue color change you ever did see shows up out of the blue. As we got close the flyers looked like mosquitoes. Bottom rods were flying back into the cabin and anywhere else they could go. New life to the crew! Battle stations were maned and the trap was set. Next hour and a half we made up for a slow day. They were coming in 3 at a time. Crew worked their butts off doing the cockpit dance, clearing lines, and boxing fish. Ended with over 20 in the box. Had to leave them biting so we could get home. No doubt we could have caught MANY more. Every pass had at least 1 knockdown and on a one occasion 5 of 6 lines went down.
This report’s got sandbagging all around it, and I only see the tips of a few visors popping up and down over the sandbags from time to time as if y’all are still busy bagging more sand.

Methinks some photoshopping must be taking place because #1, I know that one of your boxes cannot hold 20 dolphin unless they’re soybean/peanut sized. Second, I know that Wilcox would not have gone fishing without taking many pics for the interweb.

Great job on the fish. I guess I should have waited another 30 minutes to leave. We packed up at 3:30 to head for the jetties. Hopefully we will try again in the near future.

Phin, you’re right…and I’m embarrassed. I went out without charging my camera battery. Took a five of six pix and the battery died. Believe it or not, I left my video camera in my truck. I guess I was distracted trying to get the food ready.
On the ride back in, I kept asking why we had to get up at 4:00 AM and be out there so early, when we caught most of our fish after 5:00 PM.
With Scoutin running the boat and Chunky working the rods, that is a deadly combination. Give them a day like Sunday, and they’ll eventually find fish. I’ll go with 'em any time…and I won’t forget to charge battery and take video next time.
