Headed out with Heywood, the Judge, Chunky, and Yellabird. Left MI late hoping to get the weather to lay down a bit. We were greeted with a mess. Sloppy ocean but we ran the trough and made pretty good time out 65 miles. We were in search of the dolphin but planned on hitting one of Yellabird’s secret spots to the north. Trolled for 2 hours, found good bait and picked at the dolphin. Pulled a number of hooks but put 4 in the box before Chunky announced we had enough dolphin in the freezer and wanted Yellabird and I to put some bottom fish in the box. (should have stayed with the dolphin)
Headed to the wreck and flipped over the side. Beautiful wreck with a good number of fish. The grouper stayed off in the sand but a number of African pompano stayed above the wreck… Along with a hungry bull shark that ate everything Yellabird shot. He is a better man than me cause I would have stuck the SOB!
Found some slipper lobster and shot a big spaded before I came up.
Second spot was a nice ledge. While Yellabird and I were suiting up Chunky put a nice Gag in the boat off the rod and reel. He caught it on a Avet SX! Chunky horsed him off the bottom and brought him to the top. We flipped over the side to find a good number of mid 20 inch grouper but never could find any big ones. Ended up shooting a decent one but not as big as Chunky’s rod and reel job. Found a few more slippers too.
Should have stayed with the troll, best looking bait I have seen all year.

Highlights:
Getting alittle air under the props on the way out. The 4 stokes sound different than the OX66s when they vent.![]()
Watching Chunky with the arrogance of a heavyweight boxer and the language to make a sailor blush put the dolphin and grouper in the boat. He is a good mate. Needs to work on some interpersonal skills but he knows how to fish!![]()
Diving with Yellabird. Always and adventure. He is good people.
