All this rain.

I’m new to inshore fishing, just wondering if all this rain affects the saltwater fishing? From past experience with fresh water fishing, to much rain can affect the bite. Just asking?

Even affects salt more than fresh, because the salinity(salt) level MUST be correct for salt fish to even survive.

Right now the shallow water fishing is hit and miss for sure. Now you need to be in areas near the ocean to obtain that salinity imo only…

Thanks mac daddy! I just realized I should have posted this on the shore discussion forum!

I have found that fishing is better in the rain, especially in the warmer months. We are the ones that care, not the fish…

Interesting Bohickettackle, you feel the ‘amount’ of fresh water mixed with the salt water is no problem???

I believe the original quote is…" The fish don’t care if its raining, they’re already wet". I’ve been known to pull that one out of the tackle box a time or two.

All fish are different in how they react to a salinity change. You also have to consider that rain washes sediment from the banks of rivers/creeks into the water which clouds it up. Some fish being sight-oriented predators, I can see how rain slows down the fishing.
