Almost Offshore

Hard to call this offshore, but it’s not inshore. Headed out with a full boatload (me +4). Managed to get through the slop at the end of the jetties on Saturday, fished some live bottom in 45-50’ range. Caught a lot of blackfish, a few keeper blackfish, but lost count of bull reds caught (15 - 20). One red was caught by two anglers, had both hooks in it’s mouth. Had a couple 10" - 11" blackfish completely mangled, and caught one bull reds because he (she) couldn’t get the 11" black fish that was hooked out of it’s mouth. Only tagged one due to the crowed and busy conditions on the boat, but it was 40.5" and about 27# (before anyone starts… I weigh these large fish in the landing net with a Boga grip attached to the net frame not the fish). Even at 50’ all of the big reds swam off well no floaters, no venting, and none deep hooked (other than the one with the blackfish 9"s down it’s mouth). Caught fish (BSB and Reds) on meat and artificials, they weren’t picky Saturday.

Nice!
