Aluminum Boats

Thinking of trading my old Mckee 17’ in on a 17’or 18’ aluminum boat, anyone know if there is a triton dealer close to Charleston. Also anyone have an opinion on Triton aluminum vs. G3 aluminum boats. Thanks

I had a G3 and liked it very well. The lay out was nice for me because I only took 3 people fishing maybe 4 just riding and it didn;t cost as much as the Triton.
The only G3 dealer around Chas. is in Orangeburg,Black River Marine, and Marshall’s Marine has the Triions I beleive.

Double D.

Being a custom boat builder myself, it’s hard for me to recommend an aluminum boat to anyone  But G3 builds a very nice and tough aluminum boat. One of the best I’ve been in.

It would be hard for me to drop that much $$$ on a brand new aluminum boat as well. Used maybe… But new price is outrageous for how crappy they ride not to mention noisy and hot. G3 are nice boats tho. Friend of mine owns one and we duck hunt out of it.

Yep  G3 is on the higher end of the scale but I’m with you there. Noisy, hot, or even worse to me cold, and the ride ain’t real great either, but it’s a good solid boat for what it is.

Thanks for the info, I’ll still have the old Seahunt to use when it suits best, but want something I can pull over oysters and shrimp out of.

You can’t catch fish on a dry line

Berkeley Outdoors in Monks Corner is a Triton dealer.

I have an 1860 G3 center console, 90 Yamaha, best boat I ever owned, stable, fast. It was noisy, as are all aluminum boats. A thick rubber mat where the anchor sits, and outdoor carpeting under the rod racks solved that. Easy to launch and retrieve by myself, great for shrimping in Bulls Bay.

I’ve got an '08 G3 1860CC with a Yamaha 90 2-stroke as well and it has been a dream to own. We do everything in it. Great layout and sturdy. I lilke the older layout better than the new with the gas tank up front. Older has better storage as well.

I have a 25 year old Starcraft with Yamaha tiller. It is great. Super light weight is great on gas and trailoring. The new ones are a little fancier than mine. I have only seen one other one in Charleston. It has been easy to maintain and inexpensive.

I bought a 2014 BassTracker 175 TF, has vinyl flooring on composite decking. The ride isn’t noisy at all, and the vinyl doesn’t get too hot on bare feet. Good bass fishing boat I can take in the salt as well.

Check the cast and blast at Hanckel Marine. Made locally out of heavy aluminum but made like a flats skiff. Bad looking boat.
