My anchor box on the bow of my boat is clogged and will not drain the water that is in it. I stuck my finger in the drain hole but didnt feel anything causing the clog. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to drain the box? Could I use draino or something like that or would that hurt the drain hose? Thanks for the help!
I had the same problem. I bought some small diameter polypropylene tubing, fed it into to the drain hole and forced water through it from the garden hose. It took a while but the clog was finally flushed out. Now it drains OK.
You can use 500lb mono or weed eater line also … if you don’t have a nylon/mono fish tape.
Use the heavy mono along with jet nozzle on the water hose.

Thanks guys, I got it to start draining. Its slow but draining. I need to work on it some more. Thanks for the help!
Lowe’s sells a “mini-pipe snake” in the plumbing department. Run that sucker down in there and it should open up quickly. If you want added “help” then hook it up to a cordless drill and go slowly at it. ![]()

I’d be gentle. If you separate a joint in the drain plumbing, the problem get a little more complicated.

I fixed the problem. After I finally got the water drained out I got a small shop vac and sucked up what ever was clogging the line. It drains great now. Thanks for all the help
