I purchased a boat with no anchor.
Anyone with experience using the lewmar claw anchors?
It calls for a 16.5lb.
I need something to ride on the pulpit roller that will hold strong. Im not using a windlass.

Fluke anchors have been good to me, but they never ride properly on the pulpit.

I use a Lewmar claw anchor on a pretty big and heavy boat and it works just fine in this area. They are pretty common on cruising boats. It’s never let me down.
I wouldn’t rig it like the photo above unless you will be on the boat, awake, and sober. That setup is good for if you expect to get the anchor snagged on something, but it can also let go and let your anchor drag when you don’t expect it to.
BTW: It doesn’t hurt to go one or two sizes bigger than what’s recommended as long as it will fit on the boat. You have more security that way.

That claw anchor sticks in every bottom type we have around here. Much better than a Danforth type.

I have a Danforth I will sell you for $75.00. Bought it for my old 26’ Mako and have never used it or rigged it. I think it still has the stickers on it.
