I plan on getting an anchor trolley system put on my kayak. I was thinking about installing it myself. But to be completely honest, I am not much of a handyman, although, I am always willing to try and learn. I just dont want to mess up my kayak in the process. Is this an idiot-proof process, or should I get someone who knows what they are doing to help me out?
Its easy I put mine on in about an hour. I did not attach it to the kayak in a permanent fashion I can take mine off and put it on either side of the kayak. I got all my supplies at ACE hardware but you can get them anywhere. Look on you tube there are some good ideas on there. I used a 2" brass ring and two brass chain bolt snaps and two spring snaps like they use in climbing. I hooked the two spring snaps to the carry handles at the bow and stern of the yak and then hooked the two brass snaps to those tie one end of rope to the brass ring and then run the rope to the bow snap and then back through the brass ring then run through the stern snap and back to the brass ring then tie to the brass ring opposite the other end you tied before. The length you need will be determined by the length of your yak. Hope this helps. I left a little extra line that I tied on the brass ring so I can change the length if I want to.
There are quite a few videos on Youtube. You can go dirt simple or kind of fancy. I have SS micro pulleys on mine but I got a good deal on them. You don’t have yo go that route, you can go simple and inexpensive. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, go see Dave at Time Out Sports.
Buy it from Dave at Time Out and he will install it free… I think… Took him 30minutes to install rod holders, rear wheel and install anchor trolley. Well worth the stop. No reason to risk putting in wrong place, not sealed correctly, etc.
We’re stuck between Barack and a hard place. Hide their food stamps under their working boots.
