Wow OE… Just Wow… I understand how it might look to you but ANYONE who asks me, and most of the guys I know on here, where a spot is I/we will tell them. Period. Redfishville has never been a “secret” spot but keeping it a power boat free area has been great in the past but now every time I am out there I have to watch out for power boats… why… “I heard about this place on CF.com”… It has been a shared spot for the kayakers and there is no malicious intent, we were just trying to keep all the douchebag powerboaters out of there so we always had a place that we didn’t have to dogde them like everywhere else around Charleston… Anyone who asks is usually PM’d with the location and detailed directions and even wghat bait to use and how to present it, be it bait, artificials or flies… I don’t know if you meant it how it sounded but coming on here and accusing us of not helping the newbies is just wrong. 4 years ago when I started on this site thats how I learned how to kayak fish and where to do it. yes there are douchebags on here but 90% of the guys on this site and about 97% of the guys who hit the kayak threads are good guys and redily share spots… So just because you don’t see a post giving up detailed directions don’t think we aren’t sharing info…
Gonna have to agree with Ken, think this is the last sub-forum that hasn’t had any problems… no bickering or name-calling. Guess we are just a little different
No it wasnt ment to be accusational towards everyone. Just my thoughts. I browse these forums because I enjoy it, other wise I would not be here and if these forums are enoyable its because of the members that do post the most often.
But then again, you do see people go to great lengths to show off their pictures yet cover up everything they can not to reveal too much, and yes I do understand the arguement of mantaining privacy for people’s property. For those who do care and are helpful they shouldnt be offended at all, they should just see rantings of thought from another poster

power boats have been here(Copahee Sound) long before the kayak craze caught on. alot of them moved onto other places because of the over fishing done by both yaks and more powerboats. I think we need to be more careful how we post about general areas…
Mud, sinced I have been fishing the sound it wasn’t until recently that I saw power boats in there, but then again I have only been fishin there for 3 years or so. As for the “Douchebag Power boaters” that phrase refers to the Douchebags in power boats that don’t know what the hell they are doing and are a danger to themselves and anyone around them not the people who own boats and know how to drive them and are curteous to other people on the water… 2 VERY different demographics… I didn’t mean to make it sound like us Kayakers “owned” the copahee, none of us “owns” any body of water around here… I’ll leave that to Homeland Security on the Cooper… but like I said before for the last 3 years or so it has been THE best spot to kayak fish with out the worry of a powerboat running you over and it’s all changing… I will share any spot I have with a fellow kayaker with detailed instructions on where and how but I won’t do it in a public forum, I will send them a PM or E-mail…
I do agree with nikon. I was born and raised in Miami and my grand parents have lived in Marathon key for over 35 years, I have spent my life on boats and I fully agree there is not enough enforcement of boat laws and ethics. I dont know in SC but in Florida they enactacted the mandatory boater safety course for anyone born after 9/1/1980. However just like we require driver licenses, motorcycle endorsements, we should require a boaters endorcement with associated classes. Boats can kill and they do kill. Just look at the cluster **** we call mini-season in FL and specially mini season in the keys. 5-6 deaths garaunteed every year in those 2 days. Ask the average boater how far away from a dive flag they need to be if they are not at idle speed. Its scary how many will get it wrong and you would think that is important to know. Once again however I dont think it applies to to many people on these forums as most are one’s who care about boating, fishing, and spend time participating in the community.
A few years ago, we were down in Ft. Pierce for the mini season. We were running to our spot, about a mile offshore heading north from the inlet. I was sitting on the bow of the boat, when all of a sudden, “Turn Turn! Diver right in front of us!” This idiot was a good half mile from the closest flag, and surfacing. I don’t know how we did not hit him with the prop. If I get away from the boat, I tie a flag to me, but this guy was just clueless.
