needed to put some new line on my reel for some surf fishing and I had some Ande Mono on the shelf a few years old but never used. When I was fishing I noticed that in the middle of the line I had just put on the reel was a knot. Looks like an Albright connecting two ends. Am I wrong to expect a spool of line to be one continuous piece?

i never would have noticed it except I let out a little too much line with the bail flipped and was holding the line as I reeled in. felt the knot go through my fingers.
