Went crabbing with my daddy again today…and guess who was there to great us at the dock:smiley:
…there was a boat there with 4 men and a woman , part of Dnr research, and they laughed like crazy to see “our friend” passing from one side of the boat to the other…then as we eased away from the dock he started his antics of coming out of the water beside the boat and slamming back in…soaking daddy and I both in the process…and I swear to you that devil fish had a grin on his face:smiley:…I reached for my little camera knowing that it and I stood a good chance of getting even more soaked.,but before I could grab it daddy takes off…laughing like crazy and saying" go mess with someone else!!!"…and I could see the folks on the hill who had been laughing at us realizing that they were probablly next in the line of fire:wink:
It sure was a pretty day today…and as we went through the many creeks and drains working the traps, I couldnt help but be saddened by the Storm brewing that might soon bring devastation to much of the beauty I saw today.
Its strange how the creeks are so different with defining banks, sharp and gentle curves and unique marsh lines…and i love to ask daddy how each got its name…and if he isnt sure…he just makes something up
This momma was training her little one to feed along the banks…
“liz-a’bet”, “dat deres a gator a-glaring at you”…“bes’ not stick yo’ hand down dere”
Thanks for a vicarious few minutes on the creeks. Eight weeks of twelve done waitng for my neck surgeon to say I’m free. Your posts are wonderful visits to the marsh while I wait impatiently. Thanks. And, keep writing, please.
you know what? you do kinda lose yourself in the story you weave as you wind one picture into another…I can picture myself out there before, with my dad, culling crabs, gulls everywhere, forgetting about that one jimmy that wedged under the seat, only to find him AFTER you slipped your gloves off and was trying to clear the debris out of the boat…OUCH…your stories are what many of us make memories of Penny…God bless you and your dad…
you guys are too sweet! guess well be out searching for crab pots next week. we brought some in and emptied and moved the rest…now we can only hope for the best and be grateful all we got was a little weather from Irene!
