My niece has been wanting to go fishing again for a while, so I booked a trip with my man Stretch Armstrong for her recent 14th birthday. She caught several trout (her first ever) on shrimp under a popping cork and again, I had to partially conceal my excitement about being blessed enough to witness another fishing first for her. Stretch was patient, personable and persistent, and the niece is already talkin’ about the next trip. Thanks again, Captain John, for puttin’ her on the fish. I apologize in advance for the pictures if they’re huge:

You sir, are a good man. You have given that girl something for “free” that will last her lifetime - a love of fishing. Good on you and there is always room on me and Meggy Peg’s boat for you and your niece. My guess is we’ll all have a hoot!
Thanks BB!
Had a great time meeting your family and fishing with ya’ll. Out of 3 floats moving down the same piece of water again and again I’ve never seen just one have so much luck attached to it.
By starting her out fishing did you follow through and cook some? Great pics. Mine enjoy the eating as much as the catching.

Only a couple of the fish she caught were legal, so we put 'em back. I think she enjoyed releasing as much as catching (which she did herself). She kept asking if we could keep take them home, so she’s as fired up about eating them as catching them. I’ll make sure she gets to taste her bounty in the near future…
