slipped out of work for one more trip before the great closure, weather a little iffy but crew ready to try. eric broke the 33 out of retirement and james, new crew member greg and mysealf headed out to 65’ for a little slinging steel. eric boated a nice gag on a jig and we boated many bsb’s while looking for THAT spot. frist two divers dropped down and newbe may be a keeper! he nailed two grouper on one shot in a hole that has produced that shot for me three times over the years, had the diver that witnessed those shots on the boat with us.greg said it was his frist shot with a spear gun! all within sight of the ravenel bridge! temp was 66 on the bottom and viz a good 40".
headed a little south and tried a new spot on a great ledge that finished up our grouper limit,a nice slipper and a few sheeps.
ocean was completely changed from a week ago. last weekend it was alive and teaming with life, birds, bait and surface feeding fish all day, the grouper were stuffed with cigar minnows, the bottom thick with bait and spades, bluefish and ajs by the thousands and lots of turtles! we saw very little life today, no bait and even the ajs were absent which are always company on our dives.very little bait to be found. (had a full moon last week)
great day on the water and got my christmass early when Heather met us on the dock! greg will make a great dive partner( as long as he dosen’t outshoot us to often) and I hope james stayes away from the cigars and Heather too!
If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.
